ROBERT W. RAYMOND
PALMYRA – Robert W. Raymond, 79, died August 29, 2002 after a courageous battle with leukemia at his Warren Hill Road residence, surrounded by his devoted and loving family. He was born April 11, 1923 at Palmyra a son of Leo and Ardele (Drown) Raymond. He often worked three different jobs at a time to support his family. Robert had worked at Striar’s Woolen Mill in Clinton and later, Eastland Woolen Mill in Corinna for a total of 51 years. He also worked at Newport Fabrication retiring in January 2000. His last job was working for his grandson at Newport Quality Fab until May 2000 at the age of 77. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially camping, four wheeling, and snowmobiling. He was a charter member of the Palmyra Rebel Riders Snowmobile Club, which was established during the 1970- 1971 winter season.

He is survived by five children; sons, Roger and wife Lori of Hartland, Robert M. and wife Martha, Dwayne and wife Kelly, all of Palmyra; a daughter Donna True and husband Stephen of Palmyra; son Elwin and his special other, Donna of Palmyra; 45 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; his special companion of 13 years, Barbara Lunt of Palmyra and North Carolina; and a brother Leo and wife Ruth of Etna. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Gertrude in 1988; two brothers, Bill and Frank; a sister Marjorie; a special granddaughter, Theresa Gilks; and great granddaughter Kimberly Willard.

Friends and relatives may call from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Tuesday, Sept. 3rd, at Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 117 Main Street, Newport,where funeral services will be held 1 P.M. Wednesday, Sept. 4th, with the Rev. Millard Dickinsonofficiating. Burial will be in the Village Cemetery, Palmyra.
