OBITUARIES

ROY A. CARSTENSEN, SR
BANGOR & STETSON - Roy A. Carstensen, Sr., 81, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family January 13, 2010 at the home of his youngest son, Roy Jr. Roy Sr. was born October 18, 1928 in Houlton, a son of Jens A. and Gertrude (Dwyer) Carstensen. He was proud of his solid Danish and Irish ancestry.

Roy was a professional truck driver for 60 years and retired with a perfect driving record. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed countless hours at his camp on Etna Pond. He was a devoted supporter of his children's musical talents and was comforted by songs they played for him until the very end. In return he gave them comfort with his quick wit and warm sense of humor.

Roy was predeceased by his wife of 28 years Vivian (Drew) Carstensen and his companion of 29 years Joyce (Archer) Tomlin. He is survived by his children, Gerald of Holden, Dana and wife Katrina of Otisfield, Cathy of Bangor, and Roy Jr. and his partner Cindy Kimball of Stetson; 6 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren. He is also survived by Joyce's children, Kenneth Tomlin of Hermon, Kimberly (Tomlin) Lovely of Hancock, and Kim's children Courtney, Andy and Sarah, who all thought lovingly of him as father and grandfather.

A service of remembrance will be held at the convenience of the family. Spring interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Caribou.
