RUTH HOPE AMES
GUILFORD, Ruth Hope Ames, 97, died October 28, 2006, in Guilford. She was born May 3, 1909, in Guilford, daughter of Harry and Lora (Wyman) Rowe. A life long resident of Guilford, she worked for Hardwood Products Company in Guilford for 30 years.

She was predeceased by her husband, George Ames Sr., in 2001. She is survived by 5 children, George Ames Jr. of Guilford, Ida Page of Abbot, Mattie Merchant of Florida, Cecil Ames of Sangerville, and Roseland Stevens of Dover-Foxcroft; 19 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by her granddaughter, Tammy Cunningham, of Guilford, with whom she made her home for the past 5 years, and Tammy’s sons, Derek of Guilford and Craig, now serving in the US Marine’s in Parris Island, SC.

At Ruth’s request, there will be no calling hours. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, November 2, 2006, at the Lawn Cemetery in Guilford with Kevin Stevens officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Ames family, to assist with expenses, c/o Tammy Cunningham, P.O. Box 853, Guilford, ME 04443.
