SADIE R. AMES
SEBEC - Sadie R. Ames, 96, wife of the late Russell Ames, died Feb. 19, 2006, at her residence. She was born Sept. 4, 1909, in Gloucester, Mass., the daughter of Lester and Nettie (Brocklebank) Tarr. She married Russell Ames Oct. 26, 1924 and devoted her life to raising her family. At the time of her death, she held the Boston Post Gold Cane as Sebec's oldest citizen.

She is survived by her children, Melvin Ames and his wife, Betty, Ronald Ames and his wife, Beulah, Dennis Ames and his wife, Cathy, Priscilla Berberian and Silas and his wife, Joanne; 19 grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, two great-stepgrandchildren, 25 great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, two sisters, three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Friends are invited to call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, at the Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft. Graveside services at the family lot in Sebec Village Cemetery will be announced in the spring.
