SHERMAN EARLE SHELDON, SR.
NEWPORT - Sherman Earle Sheldon, Sr., 75, died unexpectedly May 2, 2002 at a Pittsfield hospital. He was born November 21, 1926 at Skowhegan the son of Edward and Bertha (Cote) Vigue. He graduated from Lawrence High School, Class of 1944. Earle served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. On May 20, 1950, he married the former Dorothy Teaters. They owned and operated the Mary Carter Paint Store on Main Street in Newport for 20 years.

In addition to his wife of Newport, he is survived by a son Sherman Earle Sheldon, Jr. of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada; a daughter, Paula Evelyn and husband Brian Graham of Newport; a sister, Geraldine Knight of Plymouth; a grand-daughter, Breanna Maye Graham and grandson, Matthew Brian Graham; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Kenneth Sheldon and a brother-in-law, Belmont Knight.

Friends may call from 1- 3 PM Monday, May 6th, at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 117 Main Street, Newport. A prayer service will be held at 3 PM at the funeral home with the Revs. Harold Wheeler and Michael Stephenson officiating.
