SHIRLEY (HOWES) MORSE
NEWPORT – Shirley H. Morse, 65, died June 11, 2003 at a Bangor healthcare facility. She was born May 27, 1938 in Corinna a daughter of Allen and Olive (Deabay) Howes. She was a graduate of Corinna Union Academy, and owned and operated Howes Grocery in Newport for many years. She had been employed at Dexter Shoe Company until her retirement. She will also be remembered as an avid bingo player.

Shirley is survived by a daughter, Rhonda and husband Dennis Kent of St. Albans; 3 brothers, Alfred and wife Connie Howes of Newport and Largo, FL, Roger and wife Belva Howes of Corinna, Lewis and wife Florice Howes of Newport and Zephyrhills, FL; 2 sisters, Pauline Gray of Newport and Izetta Turtlott of Bangor; 2 grandchildren, Dustin and Amanda Kent; nieces and nephews; and her cat Sammy. She will also be especially remembered by her dear friends, Donna, Joan, and Nat.

At her request there will be no visitation. A graveside funeral and committal service will be held 11 AM Friday, June 13th, at Morses Corner Cemetery, Corinna. Memorial donations in her memory may be made to the Pittsfield Animal Shelter, R.R. # 1, Box 3965, Pittsfield, ME 04967. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 117 Main Street, Newport.
