OBITUARIES
STANLEY C. HENDERSON
NEWPORT, Stanley C. Henderson, 82, died December 30, 2002 at Sebasticook Valley Health Care
Facility. He was born April 17, 1920 in Exeter, the son of the late Watson E. and Goldie (Weeks)
Henderson, to whom he devoted his entire life. He was a U. S. Army Veteran of WWII having served
three years in the European Theatre. Stanley was the recipient of four Bronze Stars, a Silver Star, and
the Good Conduct Medal. He was very proud of the time he spent defending his country. He was a
member of the Corinna American Legion Post #73. Upon his return to Corinna he joined his father in
the already-established garage business and remained there until the sale of the business in 1970. From
then until the time of his retirement he worked at Eastland Woolen Mill in Corinna, moving to Newport
in 1990. Stanley faithfully attended church and was a member of The Morses Corner Baptist Church,
Corinna. He will be sadly and deeply missed by his two loving sisters, Pola Magnus of Montgomery,
Alabama, and Mary Emerson of Newport; several very close nieces and nephews who lovingly
remember him as “Uncle Da”, cousins, friends, and two special aunts, Lorraine Weeks of Dexter and
Angie Keyser of Bangor. Friends may call from 6-8 PM Thursday, January 2, 2003, at the Crosby &
Neal Funeral Home, 117 Main Street, Newport. A graveside committal service will be held 3 P.M. Friday, May 23rd, at Morses Corner Cemetery, Corinna, with the Corinna American Legion conducting a military burial service. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 117 Main Street, Newport. For those who wish, donations may be made to the Morses Corner Church in Stanley’s memory.
