STUART W. PERKINS
GUILFORD, ME AND SARASOTA, FL- Stuart W. Perkins, 60, died October 5, 2011, in Sarasota, Florida, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Dover-Foxcroft, ME, May 1, 1951, son of Alvin and Phyllis (Pemberton) Perkins.

Stuart graduated from Piscataquis Community High School in Guilford, class of 1969, attended Washington and Lee University in Lexington, VA, and then graduated from Husson College in Bangor. He worked for Pride Mfg. in Guilford for many years in a variety of capacities including Human Resource and Production Manager. In 1994 he moved to Sarasota, most recently working for Sun Hydraulics.

While living in Guilford, Stuart was an active member of the Guilford Fire Dept. Later in life he became involved with Tidewell Hospice of Sarasota, as a volunteer. In his words working with the Tidewell Hospice was one of his most rewarding experiences. Stuart will be remembered as having the gift of never having known a stranger.

He is survived by a son, Christopher Perkins and his wife, Megan of Sarasota; 2 brothers, David Perkins and his wife, Elizabeth of Dover-Foxcroft, and Alan Perkins and his wife, Joan of Dartmouth, MA; a sister, Karlyn Dawes and her husband, Frank of Sarasota, and Bangor, Maine; and his special friend, Susie Thomas of Sarasota.

Memorial services will be held 11 AM, Saturday, October 15, 2011, at the First Methodist Church, 104 S. Pineapple Ave., in Sarasota, with Rev. Art McClellan officiating.

A memorial service will also be held 11 AM, Saturday, October 29, 2011, at the Guilford United Methodist Church with Pastor Stephen Dean officiating. Burial will follow at the Elmwood Cemetery in Guilford.
