WILLIAM "BILL" S. THIELE
PALMYRA & NEWPORT - William "Bill" Sidney Thiele, 90, passed away Saturday, May 9th, at the Maine Veteran's Home in Scarborough. Bill was born in New Jersey and was a charter member of the Herbertsville (NJ) Fire Department, and a member of the Brielle (NJ) Fire Department. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II. He was a resident of Newport since 1958.

He was employed as a plumber for Gilman Hardware for many years, and later for Collagen and Hartland Tannery. After retirement he also worked at Rowe's Orchards in Newport. Bill was predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Mildred A. Thiele, a daughter Patricia (Robert) Rowe, and 2 brothers, Alan and Leslie Thiele.

He is survived by a son William C. Thiele and wife Vickie of Hollis; 3 grandchildren and spouses, Christopher (Marissa), Jeremy ( Stephanie), and Amanda; 2 great grandchildren, William and Claire; a sister Erma (Paul) Eckman; and sisters in law, Blanche Thiele, Trudy Thiele, Barb (Woodie) Matthews, and Phyllis Caparn.

Friends may call from 5-7 PM Wednesday at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main Street, Newport, where funeral services will be held 2 PM Thursday, May 14th, with Pastor Al H. Worden officiating. Committal services will be held 1 PM Thursday, May 28th, at the Maine Veteran's Memorial Cemetery.
