Another in her Temperance Brennan mystery series, Ms. Reichs weaves an interesting and complicated story about the disappearance of a childhood friend, mixed in with a possible serial killer. The plot is untypical of this kind of story in that it is so dependent upon the skills of the fictional Temperance Brennan, and told through the words of a forensic scientist.
That's all okay, except perhaps that there is a natural tendency of an author who is also a qualified scientist to concentrate on every forensic detail. Fact of not, this can be a little wearing on the average reader who doesn't really need to know all the gory details in the examination of a long-dead body, including the various fluids and smells etc.
This said, it is indeed a good read and a welcome addition to Ms. Reichs' mystery series. If you have a queasy stomach, you can always turn the page.
