I currently live in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, but I was born at Plummer Memorial Hospital in 1962, with Dr. Burke as the physician who delivered me! Amazing, I just googled the hospital name and was able to actually see a picture of Plummer Memorial Hospital and read about the history of this beautiful old HOUSE! I couldn't believe how quaint it was! My young parents were living in Dexter, in a trailer park, because at that time my Dad worked for H.E. Sergent, Inc. who had some work in the area. We eventually settled down in Orono/Old Town area. Wonderful web-site!
Thank you!

Hi! It was great to read how many people who still have connections in the small town of Dexter. My family has been in Dexter for several generations. This is a nice way to catch up if you recognize some other long standing families that my grandparents used to talk about. My dad (Raymond) was from Dexter and my mom (Florence) was from Garland.

I would like to say HI to all the great people in Dexter. I do miss Dexter. I am trying to make it back to visit but for health reasons haven't made it back. I just had open heart surgery a few months back. I am doing better just never knew getting it took a long time to recover. I am hoping to make it up for a visit. Everyone should be PROUD of Dexter it is a one of a kind town.

I am truly saddened to see that the Guest book was broached by spam. I used to enjoy reading the posts from my old friends. I hope you can open it back up for direct posts someday.
My family left Dexter in 1967 and moved to MA. My late Father was the former Xray Tech for the area and Plummer Memorial, my mother an elementary teacher. My brother and I attended Spring St School, Pleasant Street and NH Fay. I now get up to Dexter about 4 times a year to visit friends and the area.
Again, I hope that the open format becomes a reality. Thanks

Hi Judy.
Char and I were thinking about the great Fall Colors we used to see in the Dexter area.
We see nice colors here in Wisconsin, but not like Maine.
We are well and still very busy volunteering, and love it My watercolor painting is going well, and still with the Cedarburg Fire Dept. Vicki and Buz are well. they are up at their cottage.
Vicki is still busy with her Photography.
Our Son Larry just finished doing a T V commercial for The company he works for.
I write this in your Daily Me hoping some of our old Dexter classmates might read this and email us.
Thanks so much... This is the only way we can keep up with Dexter
Thanks again Jere & Char Richardson

Hi! I use to live in Dexter around 86 through 89 they were the best days the friends I had in school to the people that lived near by.
I still to this day at 33 think of back then, I lost touch with the few people I kept in touch with wish I hadn't but life gets busy then you get married and have kids and nothing slows down.
But still in the back of my mind i miss the only place i ever felt like was home I miss the lake and picking blackberries on the train tracks and the clean country air I hope that some day I can make it back there hopefully bump into some one I remember thanks for the memories.

I was interviewing a man with the last name Bray and thought, "You know, when I lived in Dexter I knew a couple of Bray's….. hmmm, JENNIFER, that's what my classmates name was!" So I googled Jennifer and stumbled on this site.
I grew up in Dexter and I can't tell you how many times my brothers and I remember the Good Ol' Days. We each have our own stories of course, but the location is always the same, Dexter Me!!!!
I couldn't wait to sign the guestbook.
Best Wishes to all of you in Dexter as well as all of us who have moved on but live their in our memories.

Judy:
I have returned to Maine after 8 years of Utah - sad - I miss Utah weather but family and friends are more important at this stage of life.
Could not find any place that suited me in your area so I am now in Milo with a small two bedroom place with some land and good fishing and hunting in my back yard. I most likely made two ex wife's happy by buying up here but - to each their own.
I will stop to see you some day as promised but rightnow I am very busy getting settled in my new home. its good to be home again

Judy...
While doing an on-line photo search for anything related to Horseshoe Pond, where my uncle Edgar once had a fishing camp, I stumbled across two photos that were posted on your site which then caused me to explore it in greater detail looking at every photo posted and then reading over nearly every page, even following a thread to the link of an obituary of the mother of a girl I used to date whose passing I was unaware of.
Growing up in Monson and the Piscatquis County area brings back many memories which the photos you have posted on your site reawakened...
This photo of Horseshoe Pond and Elephant mountain for example, reminds me of the many days and nights I spent fishing there in my uncle's fishing cabin that was located in the first cove seen on the left of this photo. And who can forget the wintry night many years ago when a B-52 crashed on the far side of Elephant Mountain seen on the right...?
The remainder of the photos, many of which are simple superb... served to warm the heart of an older soul now living far, far away from my beloved Maine.
Earning a living up there in the heart of the wilderness was never easy and I suspect it is only more so now. I worry about how the elderly will heat their large homes this winter and how young people will find a job decent enough to sustain themselves much less a family in these difficult times which are only made more so by Maine's challenging geography, weather and distances.
That said, you still cannot take anything away from the many scenes of natural beauty which you and your fellow photographers have captured and posted on this site.
Thanks again for taking me home...perhaps one day I will be able to return permanently...

My dear wife, Glenna Norsworthy, died peacefully Saturday morning, January 20th, at 10:30 a.m. at the Carondelet Hospice Inpatient Unit in Tucson, AZ
I was sitting by her bed after an all-night vigil when she suddenly opened her eyes. I quickly stood, leaned over and said: "How's my darling this morning. Wow! Look at those beautiful brown eyes. Are you in there, babe? How about one of those great kisses of yours?"
She puckered up. We kissed. She stared at me, and stopped breathing.
Love and peace to all our Dexter friends,

How I love seeing the pictures by Bill Tibbetts! I have passed by this house for 40 plus years, on my way to camp on Davis Pond. I’ve always wondered about the house—who live there, etc. There used to be a very large barn on the property, right along the road, if I remember right. That whole section of 150 is so picturesque---thanks Bill!

Hi there, my name is Kyla and I live in Peoria, Illinois. I came across your story about the robin hood flour today and I very much so enjoyed reading it.
I have been collecting these robin hood flour cookie cutters now for the past year trying to complete a full set of all 4 colors and all 8 characters.
Since I am only 32 I don't know anything about them other than my mother really wants to own a complete set of the cookie cutters. I started to do some research on them to see what I could find out about the company
that made these little treasures. I am having fun treasure hunting them down and also learning their history in the meantime.
I have collected all but 4 and hope to find them soon.
I would love to share a picture with you of them to bring back memories if you would like.
Email me back if you would like a picture of the cutters.
Thanks for sharing your story - it made my morning.

To all of our dear friends,
Glenna had a catscan last week, and a visit to her oncologist this morning. He says the size of her lung cancer, which initially filled nearly all of the right lobe of her lung and intruded on her airway, has been reduced in size by 99%. He suggested the possibility that the remaining 1% might even be scar tissue but he couldn't be sure
from the catscan.
No matter! We are elated. She has one more cycle of three successive days of chemo (her sixth) plus one more visit with the oncologist.
On June 14th, we leave, via American Airlines, for our home in Dexter, Maine. There a good friend, Dr. Bob Lodato, will watch over her, looking for any signal that we should return to Tucson, AZ. As long as nothing eventful shows up, we shall remain in Maine until after the leaves change to their Fall garb.
Very happily yours,
Dick Norsworthy

Is the above picture located on an old gravel road heading out of Dexter toward Sangerville. After you cross the bridge by the swimming area, you bear right past the swimming area and before you get to the top of the hill
you take a right on a gravel road past a farm? It seems I recall seeing this place years and years ago, either when we were snowmobiling or on the dune buggy, but I can't remember where I saw it.

A QUESTION FOR HORSE PEOPLE:
I'd like to post a question to your guest book readers. I'm wondering about a palomino Welsh pony mare I used to own named "Merry Christmas." (I didn't name her, but she WAS a merry soul). Financial and time constraints forced me to sell her possibly around 1990+/-. I want her back if I can ever find her. I have no idea if she is still alive. I'm wondering if anyone has any information on her or even any pictures. She was a great pet and would follow me around like a dog. I always felt bad about selling her and I'm willing to give her a great retirement if she's anywhere to be found.
Thanks very much!

I read in the Bangor Newspaper obituary archives that Pat Harrington had died in 2003, and then found out that Tommy and Janis and Beverly had also died, my family were so close when we all lived in Auburn Maine, I spent many a day at Beulah and Tote's home. My Dad and Tote worked at HP Hoods in Auburn. When we 4 children came down with whopping cough in 1944 Beulah came often to help my folks take care of us. Even today, I still thank her for that. Bless the Harringtons and all their families.

Good Day Everybody,
My youngest daughter Jennifer and her boyfriend Fred were passing through Dexter last week on there way to and from Greenville and took some photos of our old house at 3 Highland Ave.
Some changes to the old place, but not much. If you care to see them, let me know, and I will e-mail them to you.
Also condolences to the Bolduc and Mills families on the passing of their loved ones.
